The rottweiler shar-Pei mix is a beautiful or handsome dog inheriting the parents’ good looks – the Chinese Shar-Pei and the renowned Rottweiler.  They may seem aloof if you are a stranger until they get to know you better.

This relaxed dog is confident, responding well to training, and easy to instruct.  They are a big part of the family, responsible enough to nudge you gently when you forget something.

This rare breed is slowly gaining popularity as a trusted, affectionate dog and excels under the strong leadership of the owner.

The Parent Breeds

To get all your facts right about the Rott Pei, it’s best to know the parent breeds first.

The Shar-Pei

This breed is a super independent dog known for its devotion and loyalty. This ancient Chinese dog was bred mainly for dogfighting and guarding.  Unfortunately, they are still bred today for fighting in countries that allow this activity.

Its loose skin and extremely prickly coat were developed originally to help the dog fend off wild boars.  The skin also makes it hard for the opponent to grab and hold onto it.

The Shar-Pei is a very reserved dog, very affectionate to their families.  It also loves to be around other animals but must be socialized early enough to create awareness of their existence. Lack of socialization and training makes this dog very territorial and aggressive.

This dog is silent and loves to be around people at all times. They are easy to train and respond to instruction with ease.

The Rottweiler

The Rottie is one of the oldest dogs in the history of dogs.  It was first bred in Roman for herding cattle and pulling meat carts.  This breed is confident, courageous, and calm and one of the first breeds used as police and military dogs.

The Rottweiler has a ‘wait and see attitude’ that responds quietly to the environment around to study and learn what is happening before reacting. They are best known as loyal, hardworking, and great family dogs.
