13 years old for a Rottweiler is very impressive indeed – this is three years beyond the expected lifespan of the large dog. All signs point to healthy aging, showing us that while canine lives may be short, there are ways to make sure that they stay with us for longer.

Among large dogs, the typical lifespan of a Rottweiler is average. However, they are a far cry from the life expectancy of smaller breeds. In particular, Chihuahuas who are among the longest living dog breeds have recorded a 20-year lifespan record.
